Artisan Postboxes & Signs at Rock Foundry
Posted on the 15th of Oct 2013
I’ve been so exited about our new blog! The story of our little foundry tucked into a corner of the Northamptonshire Countryside. It often rains here but we are always cheerful and inspired by our beautiful surroundings! We have a family of ducks on the lake outside and we love to watch the seasons change. Our passion is reflected in the signs and postboxes that we hand craft. We love carrying on the tradition of British Craftmanship.
We are a family business. My very talented husband Dan’s 25 years foundry experience means he’s part alchemist and part precision engineer – it’s definitely a little bit magic! He designs all our postboxes – including the brilliant large capacity Rockbox (very sturdy, with a great slot size, and very durable). Quality control on everything we make is so high because Dan is such a perfectionist.
I met Dan a few years into a career in company law (sensible use of a degree from Southampton University and lots of postgraduate qualifications but not a dream job for me). I didn’t know anything about foundries and castings but he made me a beautiful sign for my cottage – I fell in love! An autumnal engagement in Paris, and a spring wedding later, Dan asked if I would help him in the business. He felt my energy for all things interior design could help drive the business forward. I couldn’t wait to get going.
That was nearly ten years ago. We’ve been working very hard since then. We are passionate about our family (our four young children), our business (especially the talented artisans and artists that we have the privilege to work with) and of course our customers. We now have a fantastic brochure and an easy to use website www.rockartisansigns.co.uk full of inspirational signs and postboxes to browse. There is even a Motif Gallery to peruse at your leisure! Love you home, love your sign. What would you choose? And if you still can’t decide with all that inspiration then don’t hesitate to give us a call or send us an email. We’d love to hear from you!
